ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure has been a well known and well used therapy for centuries and continues to be so to this present day. The principles of acupressure would seem to be simple, simply apply the correct pressure of your finger on a part of the body called a pressure point and it will cure your disease. Not quite as easy as that. First it would help to understand the root cause of the disease and why, what and where that root cause is. Next what type of acupressure do you need to apply to have any effect on the disease that is present (sometimes the effect can be immediate, other times can take years), do I use prolonged pressure that is strong in pressure or do I use soft pressure that is only held for a few minutes. Understanding these questions can enable you to ease pain and disease with knowledge and confidence, whilst having limited or no understanding at all can leave you frustrated with thoughts that acupressure is a total waste of time that's a complete farce.

Try this on a regular basis for body maintenance and relaxation

Place your thumb crease that lies half way up (or down) your thumb straight onto the web that is at the base of the opposite thumb, the web is present when the thumb is moved away from the hand - bend the thumb tip towards the bone that connects to the index finger on the back of the hand (metacarpal) - at the tip of your thumb is a acupressure point called Hegu "joining valley" this point is known as a tonic point. Acupressure on this energy centre encourages pain relief to the whole body, helps to clear the sinuses and produce a feeling of calm when used regularly. Pressure should be enough for the point to not feel painful yet not to soft you cannot feel it. Pressure can be held for up to 5 minutes at a time on both hands (one after the other) .

CAUTION: This point is not to be used if you are pregnant because ancient text tells us that using this point during pregnancy can cause and promote strong contractions of the uterus and if pregnant using this point for other that during labour may abort a child, so hegu point is a useful point to apply pressure to during labor.
Research indicates that the energy released cause by pressure on this point can bring pain relief and help the labor along to a much faster conclusion. Other points used during labor are: Spleen 6 - sanyinjio, three yin intersection - opens the uterus, Gallbladder 21 jianjing, shoulder well - to help lead yang chi downwards, Unitary bladder 67 zhi yin, reaching yin, - opens the uterus, Stomach 36, three mile point - to give the mother and child extra energy for the birth and Unitary bladder 23, shen shu, kidney shu for back pain.

She who stands on tiptoe does not stand firmly rooted. She who rushes forward does not go far. She who tries to shine brightly dims her own light. She who specifies herself has no perception of who they are. She who has power over others has no power to define herself. She who only has her work will create nothing long lasting.
